Case Overview

On February 28, 2025, a Davidson College administrator accused student group Young Americans for Freedom with harassment for distributing pro-Israel pamphlets that allegedly contained “misinformation that promotes islamophobia [sic]” and for sharing an Instagram post “speculating [about] the sex/gender identity” of Algerian boxer Imane Khelif. The administrator gave YAF two options: either accept responsibility or proceed to a disciplinary hearing. On March 7, ֱ wrote Davidson explaining that YAF’s pamphlets and Instagram post are protected political advocacy under the school’s free expression policies. ֱ urged Davidson to drop the charges and revise its harassment policy to align with its free speech principles.
