Justin Amash

Justin Amash is a lawyer and former elected official from Michigan. He served in the Michigan Legislature from 2009-2010 and the U.S. Congress from 2011-2021.
While in office, much of Amash鈥檚 work focused on civil liberties issues and protecting constitutionally secured rights.
He was the founder and chairman of the House Liberty Caucus鈥攁 congressional caucus supporting limited, constitutional government鈥攁nd he was a member of the Second Amendment Caucus and the Fourth Amendment Caucus. His sponsored legislation includes bills to rein in warrantless government surveillance, eliminate civil asset forfeiture, and end qualified immunity for government officials.
Amash was known for explaining all his votes online as part of a commitment to government transparency and accountability, and he was featured in 鈥淯nrepresented,鈥 a documentary film exploring the causes of congressional dysfunction.
He remains politically active and is a vocal opponent of all efforts鈥攆rom both the left and the right鈥攖o undermine constitutional protections and individual liberty. His commentary can be found on X and Substack, and his words have recently appeared in Reason Magazine, The Free Press, and other outlets.
Amash received his bachelor鈥檚 degree with High Honors in Economics from the University of Michigan and his juris doctor from the University of Michigan Law School.
