ֱ at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Today
Azhar Majeed, FIRE's Associate Director of Legal and Public Advocacy, begins his Midwest speaking tour today with a stop at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). As part of a panel hosted by the Illini Secular Student Alliance, Azhar will discuss UIUC's two red-light speech policies, as well as FIRE's involvement in the 2008 case where the University of Illinois attempted to restrict faculty political speech during the election season. The panel will also feature Dr. Kenneth Howell, a professor of Catholic thought at UIUC and the subject of a recent ֱ case. Edward Clint, leader of the student group Atheists, Agnostics, & Freethinkers will also be on the panel.
